The very latest and exclusive photographs of the Big Fella especially for you all. Mouse over to see larger images.
Many of you might not know that just over a year ago, Florida Pearl left Willie Mullins yard to live in the world famous Irish National Stud/Japanese Gardens! It is a beautiful estate which is also famous for its museum which contains the skeletal remains of one of the most famous equine stars of them all – Arkle.
What’s more – shortly after our favourite horse arrived at his new address
the lovely people at the Stud knocked his stable box wall in order to house a mate
especially for him. But it wasn’t just any oldmate – it was the world famous ‘Vintage Crop’ (owned by Dr Michael Smurfit) and who still remains the only horse from Europe ever to
have won the race that stops an entire Nation – Australia’s Melbourne Cup.
Not alone are the two of them room mates, they also share the same Paddock in the spectacular grounds setting that make up the National Stud & Japanese Gardens.
We hope you enjoy looking at these photo’s – I think you will agree that Pearly has not changed a bit. He is as spritely and alert as always and the other old Champ, Vintage Crop is also growing gracefully old like a fine wine.
The photo’s were taken on Friday, November 20th and we hope to have more when the hundreds of acres and beautiful tranquil gardens are in full bloom next Summer
